hi all!

i'm very excited to use indexhibit to finally make my site, but i can't get past the "your_site/ndxz-studio/install.php" part of the installation process!

please help!

i've ftp'ed everything via cyberduck and changed the three permission settings to 777. i'm pretty positive i've put them all in my root folder.

but i can't get to the install page...i keep getting a error 404 page.

what am i doing wrong?

i'm using 1and1 for webhosting. any known problems with them?

my site is lynnettemau.com

thank you for your help!!

I think you haven't put the folder in the root of your website. You should check with your host where you are supposed to put the folder.

you were right, they weren't in the root folder!
moved them there and was able to properly install indexhibit...thank you!!

however now that i'm making the site, every time i hit 'view your site' i get either a generic "this page is recently registered" type of parked page from my webhost or a error 404 page.
any advice??

thank you!

also i'm having a problem with getting clean urls.
i followed the clean url directions but no luck.
would this be a problem with my host?

ok, so i switched hosts from 1and1 (didn't seem to support clean urls) to servage.net (based on positive use and feedback i found from users on this board).

but now that i've pointed the nameservers to servage and (hopefully) completely all i needed to do to changes hosts for my domain
and uploaded the indexhibit files to my new servage ftp
i'm back to getting error 404 messages when trying to install.
servage is slow to help...wondering if i'm missing something obvious that this board can help me with!

lynnettemau.com/ndxz-studio/install.php = no dice for me on safari and firefox. servage says it worked for them and sent me a screenshot from a pc to prove it! all i'm getting is error 404 regardless of how many times i emptied cache and cookies.

help!
please

It works for me (and I'm on a mac).

try again?

And btw, good job on finding the feedback in the forum, we wish more people looked for things as opposed to plain asking a question that's been answered a thousand times! So thank you :)

You need to enable htaccess on your account...in the Servage control panel.
