Alright, I guess i really need some help. The tutorials really don't seem to help me. Why isn't there a basic step by step outline of the possibilities? Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction? I know there's a lot of information in the forum, but it would take me ages to get some hands on experience. Does anyone have a tutorial for dummies? :) that would be great!

I'm also really new to this and have no idea where to start, i want to make a website, is it possible to create the site offline or do i need to have a host etc ready before I can begin. If anyone knows of a tutorial for absolute beginners to website design it would be really helpful.

1. Get a host.
2. Download Indexhibit.
3. Upload to server and follow installation instructions.
You can only build it offline if you know how to do this...if you are asking I'm assuming that you don't. So...better to get a host.
We don't recommend hosts around here...on the info page there is a list of server requirements...ask your friends/colleagues for suggestions.
When you get stuck with installation that's what this forum is for.
I suggest installing indexhibit while listening to the album "Naked" by the Talking Heads.
Also, get a domain and a host. Make sure the host has the requirements listed in the install page- don't be afraid to ask them.

Could I suggest that you maybe make a page on the website for absolute beginners that explains these things for complete novices. The simplicity of indexhibit appeals to first time users like myself but there doesn't appear to be anywhere obvious to explain the basics to us on the site. ftp's and servers etc are all new to me so I didn't know if they are something that i have on my computer or something I needed to pay a host for.

We have already...but it's in French. We have alot of other things to do around here already...we can only do so much at a time for a free service.
I've started to do that... it's difficult though, as many things that you need to do depend so much on who your host is.
Maybe this is the encouragement i need to finish it ;)
Where do I log into my indexhibit for my own site. I just got done doing everything and was at the right page. But i closed the window, and now dont know the address that is my exhibits page.
