The forum has a bug I'm trying to track where sometimes it creates threads but doesn't add the post...you posted a thread something about a annoyance when you add pages? What was the question...post it here and we'll go through it...

I'm out a bit until next monday but I'm lurking when I get the chance.

Thanks

Not a problem, I figured something was up (can't even access the post!).

In retrospect, I think it may have something to do with using markup outside of the available inserts and the small note ('Only <strong>, <em>, <a>, <code> and <img> tags are allowed in posts.').

<span> with a style class may have been the culprit (was having some issues with <code> so I opted for styled in-line span.

If I remember correctly the query was roughly...

On creating new pages from the Exhibits page, when I hit the Add Exhibit button, I'm dropped back to my homepage (in the same fashion I would be if the page I requested didn't exist).

e.g./stepthrough: -

1. Create new page on http://www.leslieoa.co.cc/ndxz-studio/?a=exhibits

2. Hit Add Exhibition

3. Get redirected to homepage with http://www.leslieoa.co.cc/?a=exhibits&q=edit&id=22 as the URL

4. Manually add /ndxz-studio/ as such http://www.leslieoa.co.cc/ndxz-studio/?a=exhibits&q=edit&id=22 to continue editing page.

Not a major problem, but a minor annoyance.

I'm guessing it has something to do with my hosting not supporting mod_rewrite. What files should I be looking at to rectify the situation? For the record, I have no .htaccess file set, default.php has MODREWRITE set to 'false'.

Thanks in advance for the assistance, and I really hope edit functionality comes back to the forums, I am OC and cringe at my previous formatting errors.

Peace!

Ah, also happens when deleting pages if that helps (well, it helps bump this thread back up).

I think that should be a permanent thread tittle if you ask me...

anyway, good morning Leslie. Last night I played around with it some more. I ended up working in the style.css file. Now i understand how i can change the format of each frame, content, container, etc. I'm working on a copy of this file, just in case.

I see that you can also add video, which looks pretty nice. Haven't done it yet, but have seen it used before.

Yeah, I forgot about the time difference. But i guess you did get some sleep last night?

That doesn't make sense...I think you've done some editing to your cms or something because that ndxz-studio is definitely in the code. If other things work around your cms then it make no sense that that would not work. First time I ever heard that it was doing this...

And yes, you are adding things the system does not want to see (markup)...

My test Indexhibit installation didn't have this bug, so I trust its an error or typo on my part. But exactly as I've explained it above is the minor annoyance I've had since installation (BTW, Indexhibit tells me it's version 0.70d).

The only file I edit was defaults.php to ignore my IP in stats: -

  1. // things you don't want stats to track
  2. $default['ignore_ip'] = array('66.249.66.211');

Note: - I'm using one of Google's robot IP for the example ;-)

I replaced the file but still have the same problem.
Let me know what files could possibly be the culprit and I'll report back if I solve it, or I'll leave it be, accept its borked and wait for a new Indexhibit (whoo!) to start with a fresh installation.

Peace.

I really don't think it works at all. To explain something...alot of the parts of Indexhibit are grabbed from my big cms or other projects I've built over the years. So, something like this, while it's in there, it doesn't mean I touched it.

But I can't remember now.

Like caching or TinyMCE...they are in the code too but they don't work. Caching will come along soon...I'm not sure about wysiwyg editors...I'm still on the fence about these. It's the kind of thing I'd implement if somebody else with the skills figured out an easy way for us to make it happen.

So, that's why you see things like that...and it should work in the next version.

;)

I understand Vaska. Well, I know I could wait longer, and I've already attempted numerous diffs, but I'm gonna bite the bullet... Reinstall! Somewhere, somehow, I borked my install, now I have a day to fix it (and upgrade to v0.70e whilst I'm at it).

MySQL backup = Check
FTP directory backup = Check
Coffee = ...on it's way

I'll update my status later on.

Hahaha! Sadly the problem still persist, so I'm assuming it has something to do with my webhost... Ugh! Super. Annoying! (Litterally, everytime I add or delete a page, I have to add /ndxz-studio to the URL... Every. Time.)

I have a test site at leslieoa(dot)awardspace(dot).com and the issue isn't present... Stumped!

I will have to experiment with files under /ndxz-studio/module/exhibit manually (as per Vaska's suggestion on AIM, thanks again).
