Code error -php Installation issues

I have followed the installation instructions and I have hit a huge roadblock when I get to the install.php step. I typed in my_site.com/ndxz-studio/install.php and the language selection screen appears as a bunch of scrambled code/text.

I am new to website making and indexhibit but here is my process.

_ftp: cyberduck
_host: startlogic

1. My ftp is completely empty except for the files from the indexhibit zip folder (files, htaccess, index.php, ndxz-studio, etc)

2. I changed the permissions to 777 on "files" "gimgs" and "config"

3. I go to my_site.com/ndxz-studio/install.php and it gives me scrambled code.

Troubleshooting:
I have tried
_renaming htaccess to .htaccess
_putting all contents into a "public_html" folder
_removing + retrying the process

So far, nothing seems to work for me. Not sure where to go from here or where to start.

HELP, please!

Can you show us?

But, I'm pretty sure that this means that your host is not running PHP.

actually, it is showing up only when I use:
ftp://my_site.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

if I use an http address (http://my_site.com/ndxz-studio/install.php) , it is just "page not found" screen.

The text is from the install.php file. It starts at the line:

setlang($picked); function install_db() { global $c, $picked; require_once './config/config.php'; if (mysql_ver()

Like I said, it only works with an ftp so it is password protected. Here is a screen capture:

Now I get it...

You need to wait until you have a real domain - I think this is the problem. It's currently running as a subdomain and this could cause problems on some servers.

But, will it work when it's on it's own domain? I don't know...

Are you sure it's a Linux/Apache setup? It will not work on a Windows/Apache setup. We've seen this host before...I can't remember if it worked or not.

Also, ftp doesn't work the way you are using it...that will never work...

I own the domain but for some reason it is still saying ".startlogic.com". I wrote tech support this morning and still no response from them about this.

Can you give any recommendations for a new host? I am excited to use indexhibit but getting started is killing me.

Also, How do I know if it is a Linux/Apache setup or a Windows/Apache setup?

You ask the host about the setup.

Your domain needs to go through provisioning...takes up to two days. Wait on that first...then see how things go.

Also, I found another forum that had an issue I was running into:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/156516

If I am reading this correctly, they have to enable to php themselves.

Also, as for the way I have it set up, I have been trying a lot of different combinations of EVERYTHING so my ftp is a mess right now. What should I do to fix it?

Talk to your webhost.

I recieved some feedback saying that the "my_site.startlogic.com" and "my_site.com" are mirrors of eachother.

I replied asking about PHP activation. I will post what I find when they respond.

Thanks for the help!

Update: The problem is that CGI was not enabled by default. If anyone uses startlogic, you have to activate CGI in order to read the PHP files.

Thanks for all the help from everyone!
