my homepage is one of my section pages. How can i regain my main homepage ?

Copy everything (text+code+images) from the mainpage-which-is-now-a-simple-exhibit.
Create a new page, paste everything (text+code+images).
Reposition and publish the new replacement page.
Check everything is working and then delete all content from your main page...

...you should now have: a mainpage replacement page + a blank mainpage...
