hi ... i have read vaska's post on how to create a root level page with a URL which is not inside another folder eg example.com/about - but my brain is too small. or something. can someone explain further?

also i can't adjust the timezone to reflect australia and i was only able to register on this forum as uk or usa. so i lied. i'm from australia. (i know it's far.)

so i must have explained my problem so badly that everyone ignored me. jeez thanks! anyway i figured it out so just in case anyone is struggling with this problem : this is a somewhat clearer explanation than the one offerd in Tutorials : How to make a 'section' section

one of your "sections" is the root level directory which cannot be deleted but it can be renamed. (aha! but i am not sure what its default name is when you first install indexhibit because i renamed it :P) unlike the other sections, all exhibits which are created here will have a root level URL. so if you make an exhibit called 'about' it will appear as : example.com/about - once created and published you can now move this exhibit anywhere you like and it will retain the original URL because the path is not rewritten unless you unpublish an exhibit and republish it again.

hope this helps someone!

i still have the problem of time, which i have since read somewhere vaska says will be fixed in the new version of indexhibit and my australian problem. saw someone with australia underneath their name on the forum. i only had the uk or usa option. ah well.
