Just a quick question.

The background image isn't appearing on my index/home page and I can't work out why?
It's probably the most simple thing but I can't see it.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks,
Pete

I've said this many times before around here...is a link in a list of links a 'credit'?

Downloads page

"In exchange for use of this software for free, you are required to provide a link back to Indexhibit on your website (like "Built with Indexhibit" - it must specify credit). Failure to do so will result in our lack of ability to provide any help via the forum or place your site on the participants list."

I've also credited indexhibit in my news section and intend to donate as I will be making money from my design services.

And the news page gets updated and eventually refreshes...

I'll be happy to place credit under my menu if that's the way you prefer?

I've placed a link at the foot of my menu, I hope this is ok.
Please accept my apologies for removing it.

We don't care where the credit is...but a credit is a credit. A list of links to your 'friends' is not a credit.

I've had enough Indexhibit for my weekend already...I hope somebody will wander through and help you.

it aint that hard, is it? we need to keep credits for this to keep our soul clean and besides, it is the cheapest suport: linking back to a noble cause! we dont want anyone to think we made the website by ourselves, do we?

about the problem. sorry dont know the answer, but there is a plugin for inserting backgrounds in this website. reuploading modified files from scratch may as well be useful.

okay, point made. I had no intentions of not crediting indexhibit.

cheers for help but the plug in is for random backgrounds and I just want a static one. I know how to do it but I just don't know why it isn't working?

It works on every other page apart from my index page.

I don't understand what you mean? 'a linking to a background'?

Basically I'm just adding a background image in using indexhibit, it works on all the other pages but not on the index page and I can't work out why?

Thanks Peter...I'd like to bring it up here...when we launched this project everybody took the link/credit off their sites. Guess what happened...our traffic started to die just after it was launched but we could see that there were lots of downloads. We never would have survived if we didn't make this policy (and WP has the same policy as well).

The link is the only thing that I get out of this project really...I don't get paid...I'm not getting much public credit for all my service...I'm just trying to make this project bigger and better. It is very important to us.

Not trying to make an example of you...but when I see it I have to bring it up (and I don't enjoy it at all).

And now, to your problem...I don't see any background images at all right now...but...I think css could have a problem with the fact that the name of your file has a space in it...like...Picuture 23.png. I don't think css plays well with that.

I always have to tell people when naming their images...no spaces...no accents...no symbols. Maybe this is the problem (rename those files)...and see what happens.

Cheers Vaska, I completely understand what you are saying and I am fully grateful for this service. It's spot on.

With regards to the background problem, I've changed the background name to 'backgroundimage.jpg' and it still doesn't work only on the index page. All the other pages work perfectly??

I'm a little confused. I did try to install random background plug-in but opted not to use it in the end. I think it's still in my code but not sure how to remove it (can't remember the existing code).

Do you think this may be the problem?

Grab a template that you have not changed and replace the background function in the new with the old. Its really hard for us to know what's really going on here...

Cheers Vaska.
