505 error

skateoneight / 2013-11-12 19:03:28

im having trouble when i am clicking on the pages on the side of my page (ie youthwaste.com/…. I cleaned up the url with another thread, but was having trouble figuring this out. I am using godaddy as a host, any help?

...hello again.
I get a "pageok" message instead of an indexhibit site.
Just do a websearch using pageok and check the results - at this point this error is not related to Indexhibit. Server issue I'm afraid.

skateoneight / 2013-11-12 20:58:17

i just deleted the files and tried to reinstall them but now i get the pageok message now on both my site as well as the /nzxstudios login

skateoneight / 2013-11-12 20:59:58

i also deleted the database and created a new one, i think the issue is when i go to put the install.php in my browser it says ive already installed (probably reading the old database)

arsondpi / 2013-11-12 21:28:43

Why are you reinstalling? Now there's a 500 error in the main page of your domain
Did you do a websearch on the "pageok" error? Have you contacted godaddy about all this?

I wanted to see if it was a problem with how i set up the permissions on the ftp. Like i said I deleted the files on the ftp, then put them back on. As well as deleting the database and creating a new one with the same info as the last. Is there a way to re-configure the site to read the database?

You can't simply delete your files and reupload them - you killed you database connection (/ndxzsite/config/config.php) in the process. So, you have to either manually recreate that file with the connection info or simply start over.

I really think you need to slow down and work one step at a time at this point - deleting this and that without knowing what's going on is not going to help. You are likely to kill your site over and over...

We're here to help...

i know i know. how would i go about starting over?

skateoneight / 2013-11-13 19:04:06

or manually input the database?

Vaska A / 2013-11-14 03:21:10

There are threads around here already about these things...

skateoneight / 2013-11-14 18:12:35

i cant really find anything that would reset it. I checked the config.php file and its fine with the info. I saw the something in the forum about a reset download thats not on the site anymore. any help?

arsondpi / 2013-11-14 19:12:34

Ok - now if all the files are as they should, you need to edit the config.php file with the database details.
Alternatively if you want to start from scratch, delete everything (files/folders and database).

skateoneight / 2013-11-14 19:16:26

i got the correct content in the config.php file with the database. I can now get the login page for mysite.com/ndxzstudios but when i try my log in and password i cannot log in. I tried the reset2.php, got the "hopefully that works!" message but when i try and login as index1/exhibit it will not let me log-in and will not read my email when i run out of login attempts?

skateoneight / 2013-11-14 19:32:57

i also udpated my server via go daddy. my ip is different now, is there a way to enter that in manually? or is that what i did when the config.php file is configed with the database i created?

arsondpi / 2013-11-14 19:40:58

enter what manually - you ip? what does the ip have to do with installing indexhibit?
I'm a bit lost.
Your database connection details need to be right in the config.php file.

skateoneight / 2013-11-14 19:49:11

im sorry to confuse you. I entered the database info in teh config.php file. now i can access my site log-in now at mysite.com/ndxzstudios but am unable to log-in

what should i do?

arsondpi / 2013-11-15 08:47:26

Something is still not right here.
I still get 500 errors when in your frontend (you site) and apparently the login/password in the backend should have been reset. Still index1/exhibit are not working.

Ok.
Lets do this. Backup everything in your computer. Then try to reupload all the files and folders. Check your folder permissions and rename the htaccess to .htaccess
Last but not least move/update the config.php file to the right place.
See if this works...

cool i got the site up now but still running into the 500 error when i try and go to one of the internal pages like youthwaste.com/project/paintings/ any idea why?

Vaska A / 2013-11-15 19:00:33

Yes, because like before, something isn't right with clean url's on your server. We have offered alternates both in this forum and in the clean url's tutorial (which will likely work).

skateoneight / 2013-11-16 07:37:28

cool got it working thanks for the help
