it didn't show a 404 error for me. try forcing refresh (shift f5 etc), try deleting your cache and what not. that may help?

Thanks jaydee, but i finally figured it out. Because my domain name was still propagated. And i think everyone should take note about this too before installing Indexhibit. lesson learned!

I just installed indexexhibit and followed the instructions on copying files and changing permissions. I am confident it is in the correct folder.

For some reason when I visit:
http://gaskindesign.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

I am redirected to a godaddy parking page.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey I'm having some trouble getting indexhibit installed. I'm fairly sure I put the contents of the indexhibit install folder on my root folder (I tried every folder and none of them worked).

The error says "The system cannot find the path specified."

I'm trying http://www.marisaschwartz.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

Thanks for the help :)

You need to figure out which one is the root of your folder.
If you can't, ask your host which one is the 'root' folder...

Hello, I apologize for posing the same question as many, many others. However I seem to be having the same problem with the 404 error.

When I try to access

http://amandaleejames.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

(I also tried the URL containing /indexhibitv070e/ )

I receive the error page. After reading through all of the posts and responses, I went through everything:

-the permissions ARE set to 777 on those that require it
-I uploaded the CONTENTS
-I called support and asked if the "root" folder (the only folder available via ftp and control panel) was the appropriate place to put the files...they said YES.

I'm really not sure what I've done wrong, but any help and/or suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thank you,

Amanda James

the url i am trying to get to is:

http://rammypark.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

my host says the root folder is rammypark, and i transferred all the indexihibit folders into there, changed the permissions to 777... but still can't get through.

any help would be appreciated - thanks so much ~

Guys, this isn't really a problem with Indexhibit. You need to figure out where your files are and if you can't ask your host.

Hi,

1-So I was able to e mail my host and they told me their system supports indexhibit.
2-I downloaded the indexhibit's indexhibitv070e folder and took the CONTENTS in to my root folder which is public_html
3- There is a _MACOSX folder should, but I dumped the other folder's content into my root folder.
4- This is the website I am trying to enter:
http://www.tuncturel.com/ndxz-studio/install.php but it gives me the error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@tuncturel.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I read many of the solutions in the forum and I am confused on what to do. Thank you for taking your time to read this and thanks for coding this program as well!

Hi,

I am also getting the error message

The requested URL /ndxz-studio/install.php was not found on this server.

after I tried to go to

http://elliegibson.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

The files are in the root folder. Is the fact that it is not working a problem with hosting company?

Hi,

I am also getting that "404 not found" message when trying to open that page:

http://www.agathephilbe.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

I have uploaded only the content of the indexhibit file, and I know it's in the root folder (I asked the host).

Thanks a lot for your help!

I dont see a 404 error but rather a 500 error...
Try reuploading all files/folders... sometimes ftp cuts off and files get partially transfered.

Hi,

I read the whole post about 404 error. Mine is quiet strange, everything is working good, the installation was perfect. I started personalized my template everything was working good.
But now, my only page who's working is "home" i can do anything on the other as "contact" when i click i get a 404 error... First, i thought it was normal because pages was empty, and most of it are still empty... So i refresh the page and there's nothing appearing =(

I also started to install the iFrame plugin, but doesn't work too, i didn't find the "page processing" i don't know where to find it, i got my exhibit in french, and it's host on 1&1 server.
Here is the URL:

http://steiner-lebeausoleil.org/FR/

I install in a folder "fr" because i want a bilingual site so i'm gonna install a second time in english with a split page. Does that's the problem?
Thank you for the help!

Hello -
I've honestly looked through all these posts, but this is my first day ever attempting ANY kind of website building, let alone messing with CSS -- so would appreciate if there is an easy answer I'm perhaps overlooking due to my knowledge gap. I'm sure variants to my question are here, I just don't know the language, folks.

My main issue is that when I tried to upload using the string: "http://revenantarchives.com/ndxz-studio/install.php" I got a 404 not found error. So I searched the forums, and saw that some people were uploading to a string like this:

http://revenantarchives.com/indexhibitv070e/

Okay, so this worked fine, no 404 message, edited away at my pages most of the day, but now I've stupidly realized that when I simply go to revenantarchives.com, my pages are linked to my host's basic "url is purchased" type page. Of course. I obviously don't want the "indexhibitv070e/" as part of my website location. Where did I go wrong, and is there a way to fix this without redoing everything? Any particular posts that answer this question I somehow missed? Many thanks.

Just delete the index.html page that is blocking yoru site from appearing. Also, you should read through Useful Threads and use the search - we have answered this question 100's of times in the past (which isn't an Indexhibit issue per se).

Well I got a little "delete-happy" and deleted all the index.php folders, which made things worse. On the positive side, after reinstalling my backed up site, everything began to function as it should. Thanks for the help, and thanks for your patience with my greenhorn level of experience.
