Random Background Image + Resize

MRPW / 2010-10-05 09:19:33

Hey.

I know this has come up before but my search was bringing up so many random results.

this is my site< www.philwilson.ca

I wish to have the random backgrounds plugin, which i have installed. but I want the images to automatically scale to fit the users browser window.

If some one could link me to a tutorial that would be great.

thanks

I hope this Thread helps you:
Create Full-browser Background Image

HI MRPW,

I struggled with this all last week.

I think the best is to start from scratch.

(1) Install the random_full_background.php plug in. All files and instructions are on a downloadable dmg here. (Thank you, Sawatzki!)

(2) Follow the instructions I posted earlier today if you are having issues with it not automatically scaling or want to have only the main page show a full random background.

I am no expert - have been learning this stuff on the fly all week - but it worked for me. The only thing I can't figure out is how to scale the images on non-main exhibit pages that I upload manually through the interface. But that's less of a big deal.

Hope this helps... good luck.

Betsey

ALRIGHT! I got it to work. I was wondering if you could help me though. when you enter into my exhibits I would like the background to be black. not the random resized ones.

if you check out my site you can see what I mean

thanks in advance

I can't quite tell from your site, but I had a similar problem when I was getting mine to work. It's possible that you tried the two different solutions - one for the random background, and one for the random full background.... this was my mistake. As it turned out, I had the old code from the first solution still kicking around, and it was applying itself to all my pages, when I only wanted it on the first page.

Make sure you follow the tutorial by sawatzki, which is excellent - and then apply the fix suggested by tomcardoso in the same thread.

That should work without issue, if done correctly.

This thread has been closed, thank you.
