login err

tufal / 2012-06-04 16:01:09

Hello!

This has happened to me twice:

1. Installation of v.2 works fine and I get to the stage where I see the full interface
2. Then I log-out and try to log back in to create content and I get the message "login err".

The first time I thought it was that I got my password or username wrong but it's happened twice.

Is there are rule against capitalized letters or numbers in the password? I've also tried with different browsers and a cleared browsing history.

Could it also be that IndexHibit tries to go to myname.com when my server is configured to use just myname.com?

Thanks for your help, I am really excited to use the new platform.

Falco

There is a rule right now - I just removed it but it's not in the public release yet.

I'm trying to write a new upgrade utility before I release it.

Can you send me FTP and hosting control panel so I can take a look?

asugarhigh / 2012-06-04 17:20:31

I think I'm having a similar problem. I just installed the new version and I'm having trouble logging in. I don't think I ever set up a new username/password and can't find the right combination. Index1 and exhibit also doesn't work, nor can I retrieve the pasword using my e-mail address. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Faith

ehunziker / 2012-06-04 17:48:45

I have exactly the same problem like Faith: I can't log-in with my old password and index1 plus exhibit, also my email address it does not recognize. How to get any further now? thanks for tips to solve this...

rickrewijk / 2012-06-04 21:02:37

Unfortunately i have exactly the same problem as Esther

sbhaid93 / 2012-06-04 21:17:55

Me too, Vaska knows. You guys aren't alone... haha.

rickrewijk / 2012-06-04 22:00:48

Keep calm and ...

thecolorstrip / 2012-06-04 22:16:47

I had the same problem. The reason was an exclamation mark in the password.
If you use letters and numbers you should be fine.

rickrewijk / 2012-06-04 22:48:38

Our problem isn't an exclamation mark in the password.

Replaced old version of indexhibit with a fresh V2 install.
So it's the first login run. Login should be index1 > exhibit
This doesn't seem to work for me and others ...

ellieharry / 2012-06-04 23:00:02

Same problem, I haven't logged in in so long that I don't remember my username or password. Is there anywhere I can find this? index1 and exhibit don't work for me.

eni / 2012-06-05 13:53:07

Same issue here, I used all my login attempts but I cannot retrieve the pwd, it does not recognize my email address.

KrisPhoto / 2012-06-05 14:58:42

I am having the same problem. I contacted my server thinking it might be their problem, but does not seem to.
Did anybody here manage to solve it?

rickrewijk / 2012-06-05 19:49:54

Mine is working now!
I deleted the old database and created a new one for CMS 2.

Melburn / 2012-06-05 22:14:44

Hey,

I just purchased V2 and I got the same problem.

Vaska A / 2012-06-05 22:18:27

This is happening as the result of a failed instllation. If you are having this problem you can either try to do a new installation or wait for us to release the upgrade tool. I hope we have it ready by the end of the day tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience.

Melburn / 2012-06-05 23:03:47

I did a new installation and now it works ine for me - thanks!

Vaska A / 2012-06-05 23:10:20

Great!

c_denniston / 2012-06-06 13:32:18

I have re-installed the 2nd version numerous times and am having the same login err problem. Any advice?

c_denniston / 2012-06-06 14:22:20

I deleted my database again, and reinstalled using a different browser. It worked somehow!

annipanni / 2012-06-06 16:03:47

having the same problem too, reinstalled everything several times, still can't login…

hanthomson / 2012-06-06 17:29:05

Samesies.

AdrianN / 2012-06-06 21:07:25

Well. This is a wildshot: I had the same error, I just forgot to rename the htaccess file to .htaccess. Then it worked for me :)

lemathieu A / 2012-06-07 08:59:05

@c-deniston: did you re-installed on the old database ? Try with a new one.

eni / 2012-06-07 10:08:57

hey, I re-installed various times, tried different browsers, renamed htaccess, downloaded reset2 but I am not able to log in. Is there anything else I could try?

hanthomson / 2012-06-07 16:17:15

Same. Changed permissions, renamed htaccess... whaat.

hanthomson / 2012-06-07 16:24:51

I really want to do this myself but I every single time I get 'login err' and then it doesn't recognise my email address. help

AnnaPunkt / 2012-06-07 16:42:53

Same same same problem!

pernin / 2012-06-07 16:59:14

AnnaPunkt:

I answered to your other post:
please read the guidelines for the forum, you're both hijacking threads, cross-posting and saying "same same same problem!" doesn't help anybody and gives us nothing to work with

As I told you in your other post:
start a new thread, with a descriptive title
write a description of your problem
do not forget to give us a website address so we can see what's happening

c_denniston / 2012-06-07 22:44:35

So I re-installed, was able to get in and start customizing, and now today when I tried to log back in, I got the login err message again. Ack!

hanthomson / 2012-06-08 14:35:55

Yay!
Mine is working - what I did was change the 'ndxz_' to 'ndxz2_' as the installation instructions said to... now it works. For how long, who knows - but doing that took me to the change password screen.

lancejones / 2012-06-09 19:57:59

yup. i've tried everything in this/these threads. having the same issues. i can get in the backend when installing but then can't log back in (login err). don't get to use index1/exhibit passwords, just goes right to make username and change password. deleted all files (even deleted other files just in case there was some kind of conflict). reinstalled (several times), changed htaccess to .htaccess., etc. nothing is working for me. sent my FTP 411 via email as asked but no response. hopefully things are getting worked out. hope to hear something soon.

Vaska A / 2012-06-09 20:44:50

I will be helping people here tomorrow with failed installations - look for me here during the day (GMT).

ryanrey / 2012-06-10 19:50:24

Hey Vaska, I haven't been able to finalize my install. Same problem, when I reach the log in step it doesn't seem to recognize my information. I tired the reset php which didn't work.

Should I email you my ftp to check over what I have done?

lancejones / 2012-06-12 15:41:07

when will we have a fix for this/these issues? i was going to launch my old version of indexhibit until these issues were resolved and i now cannot even log into the old indexhibit site.

tine509 / 2012-06-12 16:59:42

This quit annoying - have been trying now for a good 10 days - reinstalled probably 4-5 times, nothing works. Keeps getting the same problem; Login err, can't recognize email..

A lot of people have this problem - when can I expect this to be fixed?

Vaska A / 2012-06-12 18:48:46

Stop! Sorry for the exclamation...

Yes, some people are having this problem - I've been writing a new installer - as I've posted in just about everywhere I can think of (including Twitter).

I'm cleaning up the file now - out tonight or tomorrow.

@ryan and @lance - feel free to get in touch with me.

sullivan / 2012-06-13 22:16:51

Hi, I've been having this issue as well, is the new installer out? If so where do I get it from?

rabin / 2012-06-27 13:53:21

Hi, I was facing a similar problem with the loging in.
All i did was to change the "ndxz_" to "ndxz2_" in the page two of installation.
Do this if u are installing the second version of indexhibit using the same database name.

youtube.com/…

Hope it'll work, cheers!

proyectoicaro / 2012-06-27 15:17:06

Hi, I had exactly the same problem: the login error message. After installing many times the new version of indexhibit, not working the index1 plus exhibit password and not recognizing the system my email to send me another password… I decided to delete the database from my server and start the whole process again.
And this time it worked! Thanks!
